RULES
January 22, 2006
I would like to point out to all of you the mission of this site, as stated ont he home page: "In the fire department the watch desk is traditionally a symbol of vigilance. This site will act as the watchman, alerting firemen to pertinent and not so pertinent information." The rules of this site are simple this site is sort of like the firehouse kitchen, what you talk about in between runs, while cooking dinner, are the kinds of things you should be posting here. The things that should not be posted here are: 1. Names or identifing information, unless the persons name has been addressed in the main stream media or that person uses their name on this site elsewhere. 2. Stick to the facts or present you opinions as just that opinions. 3. Defamatory of Libelous information, i.e. passing on knowingly false information or information you should have reasonably known was false. As to the pm and email system of the site the following information is quoted from earlier posts: "It seems that a few of the people who post on here want this to be their own little fantasy land. The problem presents itself in the when the offending member thinks it is appropiate to 1. Write their posts at a level that would make my 3rd grade teacher proud 2. Make threats against other people 3. Curse because they don't know any other words 4. Change or hijack threads, just becaue they don't like the person who is posting. Effective immediately, if a complaint is received about a user we will investigate the complaint, if it is found to be a legitimate complaint, the offending party will be sent the following warning: You have been reported for missuse of the watchdesk. Don't send vulgar, hateful or threatening emails, pms or reputations through the watch desk. IF you continue to do so I will suspend you and/ or release your identification information" Internet and Forum Etiquette: There are no rules that say anyone can or cannot have the last word in any of the various flame wars that have been popping up, effective immediately the moderators may close threads that have turned into flame wars. This thread can be discussed here: http://www.thewatchdesk.com/forum/sh...166#post241166
