Any thoughts on why the rapid change in conditions?

It looks as though the second floor flashed. Maybe shey should have taken out the windows upon entry? I don't get the water through the windows.

Go to Firehouse and check out the story. That place is tricky, it sure sounds like balloon construction. I initially thought a smoldering attic fire in a sealed up house that got some air

Would like to see some "after" pictures of this house, the damage consisted & so forth.

Definately balloon frame. If you read the story, smoke coming from the attic, then reported as a fire in the basement. The rapid changes is probably the fire finally breaking out. It said they went defensive which is a shame, with a little hunting and opening up they could of nipped it.
My favorite picture is the handlines in the front door with a master stream in operation to the second floor also.
