HARTFORD, Conn. -- A Hartford firefighter from Engine Co. 7 is recovering from a gunshot wound after a bullet flew into a city fire station.
Firefighters are not sure how the incident happened, but they said they hope it was a random act and not somebody targeting firefighters.
Jim Malizia, 44, said he was taking off his gear and putting on his boots when he heard a series of gunshots. He fell to one knee, saying it felt like somebody hit him with a hammer.
Malizia'a leg swelled from the gunshot.
Malizia was treated and released from Hartford Hospital.
The swelling went down but his leg was still sore.
