View Full Version : Requirments for Firefighters in California

To All,
I'm currently in the Marine Corps, stationed in Virginia. I've started volunteering a little more than a year ago. I have 8 months left in the Marines and am moving to Eureka, Ca when I'm done. I just want to know what kind of training is required to be a paid firefighter in the state of California. Anyone who can help me out on this; I would greatly appreciate it.

CDF is your best bet w/ no exp all that they require is a CDF FF1 basic which is very easy to get and a Haz Mat Fro. Im from So Cal, born in Eureka though, the file date for FF1 is over at the end of this month though.

Best bet, join a volie dept and get the basic training and exp why you wait for next fire season.

LOL, CDF does everything, question how many dozers does your dept have? Hand crews? Rescues? Heliattack? Trucks? type 3s? type 1s? type 4s? etc etc etc. We are a all purpose fire dept, We are Californias Fire Dept. handlines and hoselays represent. :p

Does anyone know if California reconizes Virginia certs?

This reply has nothing to do with your current discussion. I am a Firefighter EMT-B in Maryland and West Virginia. My issue is that I have a brother "Johnny Gardner" that lives at 313 Morning Glory Drive California city, Ca 93505. He last contacted his mother on Thursday 16th Jan. 2005. He stated that his wife had stabbed him in the chest with a pair of scissors. He stated that he was with his freind "Eddie" last name unknown.
