tractor boy-from what i've seen of your posts on the Internet you'll never survive it. But I'm sure the way you explain things you'll be a general when you're done. What's your MOS? The army already has enough dumbasses.
Aren't you satisfied being a member of the greensboro army? Don't tell me you're going to be a firefighter because only Reserve troops and federal employees fill these ranks. Good luck and learn to duck.

That's not true. Regular Army also has firefighters. The slots don't come open very often, but they're there. MOS: 51M10.

Tractor, best of luck to you. Personally I think it takes alot of courage to enlist in our armed forces, so as a army veteran , I can give you some small advice. Its hell for a couple of months, but after that being permant party is pretty good. Just keep your mouth shut and do what you told. PLus learn how to got to bed early, not stay up all night. You will need all your rest. Take care, good luck. Plus I don't think your fuck up,your doing what some should do, serve their country.

thanks, No Fear, I like your signature, it holds true for me as well, cept the hair part, I have a shaved head
My best friend just compleated basic training. He told me that he had to do alot of push ups because he didn't keep his mouth shut.
He said that its HELL for the first couple of weeks, but all and all he said that it was a great time.
I was pissed at him for going, but now I'm very proud of him for what hes doing for our country.
Best of luck to you.

Dude... you can't PRACTICE staying up all night. Take it from a two war whore. You just got to practice sleeping when you can. I've taken a few naps on the flightline before a jump. Hell, woke up just in time to walk out the door. Scary feeling to wake up and find yourself 1500 feet in the air. But it's pretty fun.

Ok Tractor boy - just went to one of your sites you have listed - interesting. It's a VERY small world - your stompin' grounds are my old stompin' grounds - My family has always owned (and still does) the house right there beside the firehouse on the corner of Quantico Road - My father grew up in that house and ran with that very same Woodland beach department. I used to lay in bed there as a kid listening to that damnnn siren (man is that thing loud - especially when you are right next door) and remember how excited I'd get when my grandmother let us go get a soda from the fire house soda machine (kids - simple pleasures)... Anyway, just wanted to say, small world!
Best of luck to you in boot camp - and thanks in advance for putting your life on the line for me - letting me sleep in peace!

Tractor boy be careful bro. Learn your general orders and chain of command. Learn your weapon inside and out. Take care of your battle buddy (team work). If you smoke or chew quit now. Your are not allowed to in basic. Do as your are told. Go in open minded, let your mind be a sponge. Take good care of your feet, very important. If you go into this being a know it all smart ass, your drill sargent will hand it to you. Road marches are fun too! I was infantry and it is not a joke. Basic and AIT were tough. My proudest moment is when I earned my infantry blue. They may break you down physically and mentally but, the human spirit can not be broken. They will tear you down and build into a proud soldier.
Good luck to you. Be safe and take care.

Don't worry about making US proud, man. You just worry about how you are going to spend the next four years of your life.(Active Duty, right?) Squeeze it for what it's worth, bro. Learn what you can while you are there.
