MY suggestion would be to contact their Fire Academy &/or Ems Regional Council for information on how & what to obtain, so forth.
Ems Regional Council (http://www.healthyarkansas.com/ems/)
Arkansas State Fire Academy (http://www.sautech.edu/academics_AFA.html)
Hopefully, this will help you get a start on what youre looking for.

Glad to Hear you are Leaving Maryland first of all, But make sure you have your National Registry And American Heart Association CPR Or your attempt will be
rejected. I know Maryland Is not a registry state for EMT-B's for the most part.
Also you might want to do a search and look up the Arkansas Dept Of Health.
EMS Division and Speak to an EMS Specialist there, I would not mess with the
Arkansas Fire Academy as they are slower than Death responding to ANYONES
needs. Good Luck to you otherwise, By the way what Part of AR are you going
to live in???
Best of Luck,

kickassfiregirl,
Are you a Paramedic or an EMT-Basic? When you move to Arkansas you will need an affiliation to start out. If you are a Paramedic, fill out the state app and send copies of your current certs (NREMT-P and state) to Arkansas Department of Health, EMS and Trauma. You will also need a state and federal background check. It can take a while to get the info back, but it is painless. I just did this in the summer of 2003 and I take care of the paperwork for our department.
If you are an EMT, you will have to take the test. If you have a NREMT card, you have to take the practical, if you just have a MD state card, you will have to take the NREMT written and state practical.
What part of AR are you moving to? If you have any questions, email me at:
jmedic@sbcglobal.net and I'll see if I can help.
