Is this an effective stream?
Read the story here (http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?sectionId=45&id=38316)
Although this is a picture capturing a moment in time, how many people have seen this type of stream placement in the real world?
How about the apparatus placement?

From looking at the photo; it appears that the pumper and the ladder truck just arrived. You can see the ladder comming out of the bed. Maybe the driver had just charged the deck gun when the photo was taken, and had not had the opportunity to aim it where he/she wanted to. The only problem I have is the pumper is too close to the building.

I was on that fire, E-33 dispatched on the 3rd alarm of fire. We where set up on the opposite side, and I was the one who sent in the a few pics after we arrived. First off let me say this to Adrenaline, on side 1, 2 which is the side you are viewing in that pic, and 4, their was not room to position apparatus and have an effective fire attack. Does this make it right, maybe not but that’s the game we play. The structure in question was a 100 plus year old wear hose that had A LOT of Styrofoam in it. If you look at the photo story on Firehose.com, two of my pics where taken just as we arrived, and as the roof of part of the warehouse had collapsed. The placement of the eight or so ladder pipes and the use of water tower 1, old truck 1, added in the protection of the second part the warehouse. The fire went to 5 alarms of fire and was placed u/c in about 4 hours. To allpro E-13 and T-16 where the first to arrive. E-13 made an interior attack for about 5 minutes when the roof collapsed some, E-13 withdrew and exterior ops then commenced. Once given a chance, after the rest of the first alarm arrived E-13 repositioned and T-16 went to the coroner of side 1/2. Any other questions please feel free to ask, and I have a few more pics that I did not send in.

It appears to me as though they just got water and have not even begun to move the pipe. We certainly do not know what is to the right of the picture that maybe they were going to hit once pressure was increased. In hindsight it is easy to judge apparatus placement. We do not know what the building looked like when these units arrived. It might have appeared to be a savable building. I was not there and I have no idea.
