FIREFIGHTER OPENING
The Poquonnock Bridge Fire District is accepting applications for an open competitive examination for the position of Firefighter.
BASE STARTING SALARY: $39,051.38
BENEFITS: Paid holidays, health insurance plan, vacation plan, pension plan, life insurance and uniform allowance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Upon date of application candidate must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Connecticut Driver's License, CT Certified Firefighter I, Current CT EMT certification, and be a non-smoker. Additionally, applicants must have a CPAT card (Candidate Physical Ability Test) issued after 7/1/04 or be registered for the CPAT with the Connecticut Fire Academy by 2/25/05. It is the candidate's responsibility to arrange for the CPAT with the Connecticut Fire Academy. An application for CPAT may be downloaded at www.ct.gov/cfpc and will also be included in the packet.
SELECTION PROCESS: Only candidates who have successfully completed the CPAT will be invited to take the written examination to be held in May. Candidates must attain a minimum grade of 70% correct on the written examination and the top 15 (minimum) will compete in a graded oral assessment interview before a panel of fire service professionals. Overall ranking shall be determined by averaging the written and oral assessment scores. The candidate being considered for appointment shall pass a complete post-offer, pre-employment medical examination, including drug screening.
