Fire department work is hard,
You know that we all say.
24 will get you down,
It is a long long day.
Now if you work at preventing fire and come in when you will,
Do these hours of fire house time still foot the bill.
Now most of us come in on time
And leave when day is done,
But some come in when they want
Seems I am not the one.
Six hours is a short short time to get preventing done,
I guess it's really OK because your with your son.
But does Big Eddie really know what office hours you keep,
Or did he say "Hay big guy",
You really need your sleep.
Now brother this and brother that is what you always say,
But now it is your brothers keeping track of your day.
So Blinky D looked at his clan and said, "Oh now I see",
That paper hanging on my wall,
Was just for using me.

While poeticdragon46 is posting some controverial, interesting and provacative thoughts, he has also exhibited the use of a valuable tool, mainly creative writing skills. But PD46 has now been caught in still life. While he doesn't mind sh!tting on most everyone he must remember one thing, he is just a blade of grass in a plentiful lawn. And the next deposit may be on top of him......

The dragon swung his sharp sharp tail,
And hit a real deep nerve.
The prevention king was falling fast,
But said I'll pitch a curve.
The king proclaimed a noble list of all the things he's done,
LT piped in thats right king, I'll be your favorite son.
Now Potatoe head said, some stupid things out of the blue,
But if it was right under his nose he wouldn't have a clue.
And firestrike mumbled his words of wit,
But was already hit with poo.
The dragon raised his mighty head and looked into the sun,
A wide smile came across his face fore he knew he won.

Prevention king is not my king, nor am I his son. We have nothing to do with the hours Prevention-One works, thats a management issue. If you have a problem with the hours P-1 keeps, then I suggest you file a complaint with Big Ed!

I believe management should be held to the same standard as we are in labor. I am a single parent, and I don't use my personal situation as a crutch to have flex time or bankers hours, or to leave early and not put in my 24.
I don't always have family or friends to back me up caring for my son, so then I have to trade time a lot, or take leave to deal with it. (Very little vacation time)) Thats why my leave is always exhausted. I do some work for this place when I'm home, but don't say I shouldn't be charged leave if I don't put in my hours.
Everyone look around you, we have quite a few single parents within the dept. How many of them do you see getting treated special? One person! A supervisor!
But this is ok right? Because he did this, and he did that for us in the past! And he is going to come on this site and threaten us, and attempt to intimidate us by saying watch your back, and have us cleaning toilets, and post neat pictures do divert attention away from his real issues and shortcomings. Come on guys! Whats good for one is good for all! Management has established this.

Pumper46.....I have been in the same boat as you, being a single parent....What I did find was that the brotherhood and comradery that the fire service was built on, was somehow put out to pasture when it came to this place. We all know we are brothers in this job, and when a tragedy or bad situation effects one of us, it effects all of us. While I was off trying to find child care for my daughter, I only received one phone call from management, and that was to advise me my FFL was used up, and I better figure out what I was going to do next. Not, "hey is there anything we can do", or "lets work together to find way through this." I guess I should have been slapped for thinking anything less.
But thank god my union brothers kept in touch with me, offered assistance, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is, people remember what you do, what you say, and how you say it, and always remember where you came from.!!!! God help them, if a tragedy would happen to them.

Some just don't know when enough is enough. If we all tried harder to improve ourselves in the fire service instead of playing on computers then maybe we could have a good department.

The Prevention King arrived at his Administrative office this morning at 0700.
You are now the official Time Keeper so go buy a new watch. :D
Chief J
You don't have to answear to these people, And by doing so you only make it worse and give them more fuel for the fire, As long as you know in your mine you are doing a good job then the hell with the rest of them and by what others see you are doing a good job.
Capt 46: Great point, But its been that way there at USNAFD for a long time, However you where able to beat them at there own game and that hurts them more than anything else, I guess you see what friends you really have when less then a few show up at your retirement party, Pay backs are hell.
Unoin brothers:
I sure hope that your not the ones on here bashing each other up, Please if you are lets call it quits for now and worry about getting thru with all of the new upgrades and
hireing of more staffing.
I'm sorry I have no poems or rhymes for you but will advise you not to eat the yellow snow.

Fellas, lets move onto another subject. I think prevention One has been used enough as a whipping boy on this thread! I think everyone has made their point, and taken their shot at him.
Pumper 46, enjoy the fact that you raped this man, on this site, and left him (injured/bleeding and exposed) in front of his peers. "It is time to move on" If you or some others have issues with him, then please try to handle it within house.

pumper46 enough is enough. If you have this much to say about prevention one then you really should grow a set and tell this man to his face. Oh and Casey normally everyone should deserve to be anonymous but since you can't use this site in a reasonable way then you should be given up. If anyone had any doubt now we all know.

News Flash!
Authorities at Bolling discovered a beached whale in an office of the top floor of the DIA building. The whale was found asleep in front of the computer, wearing sunglass's drooling from the mouth. There were pictures of retired fire chiefs on the screen saver, and also adorning the walls of the office.
When authorities tried to wake the subject, he kept muttering Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, I miss you so much!
Its all good! See Ya!

Damn you guys are good. Lately there has been no rest for the wicked (me)since I have been in great demand lately. And you are right once again, I must now confess straight up that a picture of Jimmy & Tommy is framed and is the main object on my desk. Why not have a picture of two of the greatest fire service leaders that ever served? In Tommy's case I meant to say served himself.

Good shot big "C", you really zinged that one in, but you forgot about your daddy Hap. If it wasn't for him, you wouldn't be where you are now. We hear your office is wall papered with his picture.
By the way, we understand that your golf game as improved. You have graduated from being Jimmy's and big Eddies personal caddy, to team player, Tommy and you against them! Is this true?
Are you still working with Hap part time, carrying the mud so he can lay block?
