Perhaps if I retitled this "What nozzle does your wife/girlfriend in bunkergear prefer"? then I'd get more responses.
Or "Does Your Wife/Girlfriend drive a pierce with Akrons in full bunkers or a LaFrance with just the pants and a nomex T and Vindicator"?

NAH, don't do it. We already went there in the Bucks Cnty. thread. lol
Stick to the original question.

In some side by side testing our department did, the vindicator did much better than the akron nozzles, without foam. We will be trying foam with our rescue engine.
And whenever we use the vindicator in a real burner, we'll let you know :p

Durable?
We've had the same Akron Turbojets on the front line pumper and the pumper-tanker for over 10 years with no problems.
Comparing say Akrons to Elkharts to TFTs have you done a definative knock down test?

I have
I like to line up the different nozzles we have like bowling pins and knock the TFT's down :) They are too damn durable though, we keep throwing them at the wall and they wont break! Damn it

What works for you? Akron Saberjets
Specific brand, type? Saberjets
What factors into your choice? I like the Saberjet :)

Northside, I like the Saberjet also. We have two of the original dual shut off models, which do take some training to get used to. I have also watched another department a person from yet another department (mutual aid fire) on a dual shutoff saberjet and people can't seem to remember that if they twisted it counterclockwise for on, clockwise would shut it off. What's up with that?

I've gotta say anything from TFT...Granted they are all i've ever used but I've never had a problem with one and they are durable. And i agree any nozzle I use has to have a pistol grip on it...makes using it so much easier

15/16 straight, no pistol grip. Pump it like ya mean it. Basic, hard hitting, no BS.

I've used Akrons, TFT's, And Elkharts...All decient...prefer the Elkhart Chief...175gpm at 75psi for an 1 1/2"...like the idea of spinning off the adjustable tip and replacing it with a 5/8 inch smooth bore tip for mop up and trash fires...all good though...as long as they get the job done!!!

We have trained with both our SaberJets , turbojets, smoothbore, and our vindicator on the new rescue engine with and without the foam on. With the foam on, the saberjet does better at aerating the foam than the turbojet, or smoothbore, But the Vindicator rules. It can really stack up a foam blanket, and per given pump psi, has a longer stream than the two combi nozzles

I like the elkhart low pressure breakaways. No pistol grip.
