Fatal Accident in Frederick

Frederick, MD (WJZ) State police in Frederick have new information about a fatal collision overnight between a fire truck and a passenger car.

They say the fire engine from Fort Detrick was traveling "in an emergency response mode" to a townhouse fire in Walkersville when it hit a car the junction of routes 26 and 194, northeast of Frederick, shortly after midnight.

The driver of the car, 20-year-old Shannon Boone of Frederick, was killed.

All five firefighters sustained minor injuries.

The fire crew had been called to assist other area fire departments.

No body was hurt in the house fire.

I hope everyone on E501 is ok and doing well. I was at the FH listening to the 11 box, when E501 was in the accident, this is the moment everyone in the brotherhood hopes never happends. Again I hope everyone is recovering and no one was seriously hurt. If anyone knows on the crew's conditions please let us know. Thanks

One more thing...... PLEASE take care of my BABY (Engine 281) while she's running in place of 501, She'll still get the job done, just give her some love and she'll get ya thru.

Just wanted to add my well-wishes to the crew of E-501. I was on the way home, and came up on the scene of the accident. It definitely puts a very ill feeling in you when you see things like this happen. I will keep the family of the deceased, and the crew of the engine in my prayers. To all my other brothers out there, stay safe!
