(Wolcott-AP, Apr. 4, 2005 7:00 AM) _ A Southington firefighter who was injured during a training exercise has died.

Justin Wisneiwski was injured when he fell off a ladder during a training exercise at the regional state fire training school in Wolcott on Saturday.

A spokesman at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury says Wisneiwski died yesterday.

Wisneiwski suffered serious injuries in the fall Saturday afternoon at the Wolcott State Fire School. Fire officials reported he fell off a 24-foot extension ladder and from a height of about 20 feet.

Wisneiwski, whose age isn't available, joined the department January 18th. He was participating in entry level training for firefighters.

Cause of Death: Firefighter Trainee Wisniewski was participating in a
Firefighter I training class on 04/02/2005. At approximately 1330 hrs.,
he fell approximately 20 feet from a 24 foot ground ladder. He was
transported to the hospital where he died on the following day.

Funeral Arrangements: Calling hours are 04/07/2005 from 1600-2000 hrs. at
the Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. A mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated 04/08/2005 at 1000 hrs., St. Peter’s
Church, 98 Franklin Square, New Britain.
