The City of Hagerstown will be conducting a recruitment and testing process for Operator/Firefighter with the City of Hagerstown Fire Department. Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED, be at least 18 years old, be eligible for a Maryland Class A driver's license and able to meet the requirements contained in the City Driver Safety Policy. Preference may be given to candidates who are presently certified as Firefighter I & above. The hiring process will consist of a written exam, physical agility test, oral interviews and a comprehensive background investigation. The current starting salary of $30,659 with attractive benefits package increases to $33,989 after one year of satisfactory employment. The written test will be given on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All tests will be given at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown, 20 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD. Parking will be available in the City Parking Deck for a nominal fee. Interested candidates must attend one of the above testing times to take the written test. Candidates need to pre-register to take the test by calling Human Resources at 301-739-8577, ext. 108, between the hours of 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. You must bring a valid photo ID to the test site. Please arrive ahead of the test time you select. Candidates requiring any special assistance should contact the Human Resources Department at the number above. How many positions are they hiring for? What are the chances of someone from out of the area (DC Area) getting picked up?
