I become acting Fire Chief after the real Chief leaves. During that time I manage to cut 2 civilian GS-09 positions, screw every civilian from getting promoted to the next grade, and keep the temps from getting a permanent position. What do I get for doing all these fine things? How about a GS-10 position for the same fire department I managed so well. Can someone please explain this to me? I thought you get promoted for doing good things not screwing people. Leave it to the neighbors north of the border to mess things up.

How about getting all your buddies in the same office with you before you even get the job.. I guess the inspections will really lag behind now. But will probably get blamed on someone who doesn't even work in that office. :)

I guess if you have the colonel wrapped around your finger you can do anything you want. What kind of internal competition did he have for the GS-10 position once he got rid of the GS-09's?

WELL I TELL YOU THAT PLACE HAS GONE TO SHIT. ANYTIME THEY HIRE SOMEONE LIKE THAT! THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU HOW SCREWED UP THE SYSTEM IS THERE. IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AS IT WAS. THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN IS TO CLOSE THE WHOLE BASE STARTING FROM THE TOP DOWN AND I MEAN THE TOP WERE THE STAR IS. IT IS A SHAME TO SAY YOU WORK THERE AT ONE TIME. THE DEPT. WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE SYSTEM. IT COULD NOT HOLD THE HAND OF THE WORST ONE NOW. IF ANYONE AGREES PLEASE REPLY :eek:

The guys who "work" at Andrews are good firefighters, it is the people that don't "work" and know more about military and not firefighting that are screwing the whole system up. Unfortunately they promote people that know how to iron uniforms and kiss butt and don't care if they know anything about the job.
