Here is a picture taken at the Mack Truck Co. plant, Long Island City, NY. The rig is a 1943 Kenworth-Mack, Class 155 crash truck. The rig, USA 508025 was assigned to the Camp Springs Army Air Base, now Andrews AFB.

3rd Dist., just as a side note, the base at Sampson, NY was originally Naval Training Station Sampson, NNY, built at the same time as Bainbridge, Md and Farragutt, Id. My dad was in the first boot camp at Sampson when it was turned over to the Air Force. He said his barracks was almost directly across the street from the firehouse. He said they spent most of their spare time changing everything over from being the Navy way to the Air Force way.

3rd Dist, first you've got some awesome pics of the history of military firefighting, I love 'em. I have one small correction for you though, Pope AFB is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They are adjacent to Ft. Bragg and are commenly task to put the air in Airborne. NC Air Force bases are Pope and Seymore Johnson. Charleston, Shaw, and the closed Myrtle Beach are SC AFBs
