The incumbent controls and extinguishes fires, rescus persons
endangered by fire, and reduces or eliminates potential fire
hazards.

This position is advertised at the full performance level. There is
no known promotion potential.

This position is open to all qualified U. S. Citizens. However, we
are concurrently advertising this position under Merit Assignment
Procedures (MAP). The MAP vacancy announcement number is CFM-2005-
0070 and it is open to all qualified status candidates. Candidates
who wish to be considered under both agency based and merit

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

MAJOR DUTIES:
Top
Responds to all emergency calls and employs appropriate suppression
techniques to control and extinguish fires and supports in hazardous
materials operations. Provides life support. Performs fire
inspections. Operates emergency control console, monitors fire
signals and other communications equipment and, at times, monitors
the security alarm system. Drives and operates firefighting and
emergency medical apparatus.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must meet requirements by MIDNIGHT EASTERN STANDARD TIME
on the closing date of this announcement.

Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on

Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards.

To qualify, an applicant must demonstrate their possession of one
year of specialized firefighter experience equivalent to at least
the GS-6 level (ZS-III at NIST) responding to emergency medical,
fire. IN ADDITION, applicants must possess current & valid Maryland
EMT-B certification, proof of HazMat Operations Training, and a
valid Maryland Class B drivers license (or the equivalent of each).

receiving a special Office of Personnel Management (OPM) disability
retirement annuity under section 8337(h) or 8456 of title 5 United
States Code.
(2) Applying for a position at or below the grade level of the
position from which you were separated. The position must not have a

(3) Have a current (or last) performance rating of record of at
least fully successful or equivalent. (This requirement does not

15, 1976, you must have: a Campaign Badge or Expeditionary Medal with

conditions: honorably discharged, served a minimum of 2 years on
active duty, or if a Reservist served the full period for which
called to active duty (Reservists must include appropriate
documentation).

Point Veterans' Preference" and documentary proof from the
appropriate branch of the Armed Forces or the Veterans
Administration, as well as a copy of your DD-214 by the closing date
