I rode out to Sturgis SD for the bike rally this year with a friend of mine (Doug Lyle) who was a Firemen with Danbury CT. Unfortunately on our return home he had a blow out of his rear tire lost control and went down, he and his girlfriend (Donna Tenney) were killed.
Doug has left behind an 11 year old son Chris who is now not only without his father but also is now without insurance, Doug had in 12 years with Danbury Fire at 15 years of service his son would have been covered until his 18th birthday or the finish of college, but unfortunately that wasn’t to be. Chris’ mother is handicapped and her earning potential is somewhat diminished.
Therefore I’m turning to our Fire Dept. family to help raise some funds. There is a fund raising ride in the Danbury area Saturday Sept. 10th at noon that I will be attending if anyone can ride up with me it would greatly appreciated by me, the family and the members of Danbury Fire.
My plan is to ride up Friday the 9th and stay until Sunday morning the 11th. The ride takes about six hours from my home (Rockville). Our Brothers in Danbury are going to make arraignments for a place for us to stay. Depending on our numbers it will be at there homes or the firehouses or maybe under a nice bush in the park, whatever, we’ll work it out. I’m sure most won’t be looking to dedicate there whole weekend but please give me a call if you can come up for any portion (202) 359-4259.
For those that would like to help out but are unable to make the trip to CT you can send funds to me in the 2nd BFC’s office or drop it by or send it to local 36’s office.
Thank you
