Once upon a time there was a small federal department located in Calvert County. There was also a big department in Washington DC named NDW. These two departments merged, and were a big happy family for many years. Then one day the two split and the little department was joined together with the almighty Naval Academy. What the hell has happened now? This story has gone terribly wrong. Aren’t we supposed to be professional firefighters? I would like to think we could handle ourselves better than the way they do. For everyone who does not know what I am talking about visit the newly posted website of Naval Academy Chesapeake Beach Fire station. I would like to get some responses on how bad they are making the Federal service look.

Did they put Willie in charge down there?

Where's ole C.P.? He can't handle them good ole boys down yonder?

No Wiillie's not in charge - Chief Howard is running that ship.

And by the looks of that place, fleas are probably that last thing they should worry about.

The way I heard the story-

Once upon a time there was a small federal department located in Calvert County. There was also a big department in Washington DC named NDW. These two departments merged, and were a big happy family for many years.

They acted this way becuase they were told to like it and act happy about it. Lost their operating budget, were chewed out when they asked for TP. They were even told the Engine did not need new tires even if there was a deep gouge in the sidewall.

Then one day the two split and the little department was joined together with the almighty Naval Academy. What the hell has happened now?

The way I hear it the firefighters at the little department were now treated as equals. Given supplies to operate with and respect.

Well I just heard about this little Gem today. Seems nobody called the station and asked about the webpage. Nobody called the Captain to discuss it. In true DC fashion whoever thought the website was so wrong got word up to THE Chief that there were naked pictures on the website. Hmm funny thing is, I checked and didn't see any either. Then when somebody did call the station they were told they needed to remove a beer logo, a reference to sex and one about getting pulled over by the cops. Sure, some things could probably be changed about that site but gotta say it beats the hell out of looking at 15-20 pictures about a baby shower (even if it was for a union brother) and seeing pictures of management on a supposed Union Website?? I saw this week, that the site I am referring to is gone.

JohnnyGage,
If you are going to stir it up, learn how to spell. Willie was never in charge of CBD, even when he was on shift work CBD belonged to NDW Central. Willie is just one person, it takes alot of people to run someplace into the ground. Willie is gone know, who are you going to blame know? Doug, Darrel, Glen, CP who knows, but as usual you will find someone. Look in the mirror it might be you.

Hey Protector,
Show me where I made a spelling error in my last post please. Looks like you are the one who needs a refresher in basic elementary english. Here, allow me to assist. You wrote: "Willie is gone know, who are you going to blame know?" That should read "Willie is gone NOW, who are you going to blame NOW?" No charge for the grammer lesson. I suspect you must have attended the same school as Willie.

Hi Johnny,

Its your old Paramedic Pal Roy from Squad 51, WOW I miss seeing Nurse Dixie!

Yes Ole Willie is gone and it is a lot quiter since he left, no rumors, no interference with Operations and we are saving a ton of money on his cell phone bill.

We might even be able to afford a new Fire Engine now.

Our gain is Meade's loss. Good Luck and don't let him go on any road trips.

You are right it is quiter here. Know we get the whole story, Our gain you are so right IDIOT,no one inside can get the job so it is coming from the outside imagine that another NDW strategically place person they already have 2 officer, a couple of firefighters and know another officer, looks like the take over is in full swing and you are busy bashing Willie. I am sure that he is not looking back at us, so why dont you move forward

Lt 46
10-10-2005, 07:36 PM
The Protector,

Thats one thing I believe what you stated is very true. Certain personnel are being placed in key positions here in Annapolis. To date, one captain, one battalion chief, and one regional asst. chief, and an assortment of firefighters which appear strategically placed.

I also believe that the last round of captain promotions that took place last year here in Annapolis would of been an different outcome had the union not dug in and stood their ground. No harm to the personnel who were placed here, because that decision was not at their level.

It would seem that there's a lot of pros and cons with this regionalization process. Big business takeovers, corporate mergers, streamline budgets, enhance operating effectiveness, cross staff apparatus, one regional labor contract, do more with less. And now add NSPS on top of everything.

Please respond!

Lt 46

Yes it is our Gain to get a Training Chief that will actually teach classes at USNA for his own personnel unlike the one who abandoned ship for the Army.

So what if it is someone from Central or wherever, at least they will be unbiased and fair to all.

Remember the "Gorilla" sealed his own fate.

"It Is Hard To Educate The Un-Educated as Big C Would Say"

Look at Big C now, he is in a Senior Level Executive position much higher than any one in the Navy Fire Service.

Vision (looking into the future), determination (education, certification, never giving up), sticking to your guns (good core values, doing what he thought was right [for everyone]) and not sticking it into everyones backside at the first oportunity, thats a lession we should all take away from knowing the big C.

The general consensus is that the Ape man did it to himself, and everyone else he didn't like. "You boys from the Fort better watch your ass" Do not believe anything he tells you, or may promise you guys. If any upgrades depend on your training requirements look out.

Our former training officer had a guardian angel looking out for him. That guardian angel (who is a good guy) was battalion chief Jackson. Chief Jackson was performing double duties here in annapolis. Chief Jackson did his own job as Chief of prevention which he does very well, and did willie's job for him teaching class's here that our department needed. The Ape man in turn would run all over the place. "anyplace but here"

Yes!!! That black cloud has left annapolis, and is now over the fort. Yes there is a god!!!

You all are in seroius need of help. You need to grow balls, you can say all this on the watchdesk as usual, but you never said it to his face. Atleast I said what I had to say to the man face to face. Why would he train for us when we posted all of that stuff about him teaching for MFRI while on the government clock? Why would he teach for us when the classes that were taught here we either didnt go because we did not like the class or the way that it was scheduled or my RSO day is during that class. You accuse Willie of lying, one for thing, everything that he said about the regionalization has come true and is still progressing forward. Willie is gone, why dont you guys grow up and let him go. The longer you dwell on this and the more posting you make only make you look like baffling IDIOTS. You all need to read what Lt 46 has posted he has hit the nail on the head. Open up your eyes, see the big picture, lets get on here and protect ourselves from whatever they have in plan for us. You boys are on Jackson's jock strap know, but I think a while back you were on his back, when someone is down you all strike lashing out and bashing. As Big C would say about management also applies to you guys posting on the watchdesk. Jellyfish have no spine and neither do the ones doing all of this bashing. If you do have a spine call Willie directly and meet with him and come clean, if not stop all of this and move forward.

Lt 46 good statement very true, we all need to get together and protect ourselves from all of this. The purpose of regionalization is to reduce cost and unneeded jobs. NSPS is going to hit all employees hard.

Here is the solution to keeping the Ape Man in check.

PUMPER 46
10-14-2005, 10:55 AM
Earned status!

Some truly earned the status/ position of MFRI instructor, certain people only attained the position by hanging onto the coat tails of hardworking personnel that were busting their ass teaching class's, and assisting others (Ape man) to teach class's only later to be stabbed in the back and discarded like a used spunk rag. The Ape didn't just limit his badmouthing of just management types in the region and MFRI, he also badmouthed everyone here in Annapolis, and everyone at NDW central, and Pax River past and present.

Give it time, the Fort has always had a good reputation. I would say in a very short time they will be run into the ground. One can only hope for the positive that some people will change for the better, and learn from their past mistakes. If one would just listen, and not get involved in everone's business, stop the rumors and being a gossip monger and stop showing favoritism and treat everyone equal we would be better off.

stay safe.

I know a lot posted on here was true, but no one ever said Willie was perfect and could walk on water. I've yet to meet anyone who is perfect. I'm
not a fan of Willie either but its time to stop.

We need to take it easy on the guys at Meade also, they did nothing wrong but do us a favor. A big favor which we could never repay. Please just let him go and move on. We now have the potential to greatly improve our dept.

You play the game, you take the blame!

The Ape Man deserves all this and then some. Go ask the guys who were held back on their upgrades. He stroked our people hard hitting them in their wallet. Quite a few still feel the sting!

Playing favoritism with his little group, making sure they could take the training needed for their upgrades, and promotions.

Personally pushing certifications through for his chosen few.

Being selective on who was cleared to drive and act. If you were not in his little circle you didn't get cleared.

Never here to teach the class's we needed, but would go out into the region and teach everyone else. "Hazmat Tech is coming here and I'M going to teach it" NOT!

Offering specialty schools and class's only to his clique. "Oh I forgot to ask anybody else" or "I did ask, nobody else was interested".

a. flashover simulator
b. new burn building
c. FO 111 at NIH

Back stabbing, bad mouthing everyone, some still feel the effects of this also.
