WE currently work a 48/72 schedule and we need some info on how other depts handle overtime, any ideas would be appreciated.
BlueGrass Army Depot.
BWI Airport also works a 24/72, there is one OT list, when OT is needed, the person on the top of the OT list works the OT. After working the OT your name is placed @ the bottom, of the OT list. If the person @ the top of the list is not qualified to work the OT needed (ie Driver, LT, or Paramedic), they are skipped over but stay @ the top of the list. PM me if you need any other info, I can fax you our SOG on staffing & OT.

Does any body have any insight on this "new" pay for GS personnel? Is this just for DoD employs or all GS? Does this coverFirefighters? thanks

Not real sure just yet, but I think there are provisions for firefighters, good or bad I don't know just yet.

NSPS will effect over 600,000 DoD civilians. Yes it does effect DoD firefighters under the current GS pay scale. Here's a link to the Published regulations regarding NSPS http://www.cpms.osd.mil/nsps. Currently the unions representing those 600,000 employees including the IAFF and AFGE have a lawsuit against DoD inregards to the wording in the NSPS document that would take away employee rights such as Collective Bargaining. The court date has been set for January 24, 2006. NSPS is scheduled to be implemented on Feb. 1, 2006.
On the original topic of OT. We work a 24on/24off schedule, our overtime list is the same as BWI. if your number one you stay and your name goes to the bottom of the list. However, the OT list is generated using only on duty personnel, and if you are going on break, TOT, or AL you aren't held.
If you need more information on either topic PM me.
