Does anyone know the name of the testing company that most jurisdictions in CT use to administer their fire tests? I know that Norwich, Bristol, and Branford all use it in addition to many other places. The test has the 5 page memory and is 100 questions (and administered by the guy who looks like Santa Clause- I'm sure many of you know who I'm talking about :-), if that helps.

I am trying to contact these people and I need the company name. If anyone knows it please post. Also if anyone has their contact info that would be a huge help to me.

By the way does anyone know why you never receive an official score when you take their test? I always get the same letter, which states you have not scored high enough to receive an interview. Does that mean I failed or I passed? I see the same people at these tests over and over. Does anyone get hired???
Thanks.

The test does'nt mean shit . You have to have friends in the sta. you want to work at. I know one place that does it that way.

In Connecticut, if you have friend...... you have a Job...... That test is a BIG time money maker. You never receive an official score because they only hire thair friends off the list.

first off, I am NOt sure which copany does the testing in question, although I do Know
that in past tests, "A company" administered a test for several departments within The State... which means seral places contracted them, they held a test for "firefighters" and each municipality was given a list of candidates that scored high enough on the test... and we apparently interested to be added to a list to be considered in each hiring authority....

YOu might try to ask t personel departmens who the test writer is or was...They would have No reason to withhold the imfo...

as far as, gettig your letter back without scoring It for your benefit, keep in mind
that sending letters at all is prolly what they consider a "Nice Option"....
Keep in mind that its the place thats paying for the tester... while often fees are taken , one would have to find the cost to you arbitrary at best given all three of the postages they shave to spend ..lol imagine you sored a 50 and a passing grade is 71 and they are hiring 3 people total.... they take the top 20 candidates scores and beyond that its nt worth they're bothering,, further.. becasue theywill never get to 50.... which of course doenst help you "improve your score"

I am sure you have seen 300 people take a test for 2 openings or 5,000 take a test for 45-60 openings on some larger jobs...

believe it or not considering the larger jobs sorta increases your chances BY a hair... ......

as far as political influence goes everone says thats how it happens everywhere when they are standing outside looking in,, are frustrated take one test and expec to eet on

face it....New London, Norwich, Willimantic
Pequonnock Bridge, City of Groton, Ledyard/GF Sub base is differant since its federal are pretty much It other then a paid driver position in those places that have them...I am sure I've missed one or two in the area... sorry Ihavent been up in a while ten you have the casino.. whish is way differant....Like phizers, EB... Point is
all together these towns in S eastern CT might hire 8 guys in 20 years.. I know lots of guys from SE Ct who tested all over the region... Providence, Hashua NH, Bangor Maine, Meriden, East Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, Waterbury, FDNY, etc etc.. and got hired .. so its not all politics....

keep in mind also that Most guys take around 5-15 tests before getting anywhere, while its not always required at this stage.. some places wont even consider less then EMT FF2, Cpat folks already certed... top of the list, some feel the need to seek minority candidates to brig up they're numbers...

I'd suggest that you as test taker try contacting the office of each place you applyed and had this company 's test and see if they will tell you Who admministered it.. often times the personel department does allow you, Within a set period of time, to make an appointment and sit down with them, and have the chance To review the test as they witness.. thugh I do NOT know what policy is in this case of course...

Frustrating ?? You dont know the half of it ... But if your like Bitters over here
and never take a test because you feel You will never get anything, someone will get appointed Bt it wont be you .... Keep going keep tring to improve, take some of the
"publshed exams to bone up on your weak spots, when you start getting marks above 96
then its just a matter of time...

dont dwell on Santa Claus.. cuz you might never find him ...lol

Let me add, I know guys that I volunteered with in NL cty who tested and got hired in Providence, Bridgeport, Meriden, Middletown,
East Hartford, New Haven, FDNY, DCFD, Nashua Worchester...as well as New London, Norwich, the Sub Base, aswell as some of the "paid driver type" jobs as well as guys from other areas who got hired in NL cty....

Its definately frustrating, I myself, made the desision years ago , that I wanted to get on the job, and to do that I might have to leave my "comfort zone" I was hired and have completed almost 18 years (feb 2006)
in another area of the state... I Like the job, Its been hard inmany ways , but I still like the job.. look forward to workig almsot every day..

so, If your serious about it get your head outta your rear end, and 1 begin using some of the study guides to get you in the test taking frame of mind, then apply often and
anywhere you can apply.. I know a guy who even being on the job, here still applyed for the recent Chicago test, But didnt follow through, due to expenses... he is also sitting on the list for FDNY and acrueing time on his pention he is on...
