I know that some departments have t-shirts that they design with like some kind of saying or what not of their department. I was trying to get some more ideas for a shirt that I am going to design. Let me hear of your shirts, or see them.
I know some departments have actually given me their shirts.

In Baltimore, we have a number of companies (a company being one piece of apparatus and the members assigned to it) and stations (firehouses with one or more companies running out of it) that have slogans and nicknames for themselves.
I'll give you several examples. The Steadman Station downtown is known as the "Superhouse" and uses the Superman logo on their patch because it is the largest building, the busiest as a whole station, and contains the most companies. Engine 36 is known as "The Old School," because the property housed the fire academy, prior to moving the fire school to the current location. Truck 13 -- now disbanded, but missed -- was known as Scarey Street, because they were located in a rougher part of town on South Carey St. (looks like S.CAREY on the sign posts). Truck 6 uses the slogan "Protecting the Nest," because they are first due to the Ravens (M&T Bank) stadium. We have many more... is this sort of what you mean?

There are several that I know of in my department, and a couple I have designed. We have Silver Spring Sta. 1 - Nobody said it would be easy being number 1. Takoma Park Sta. 2 - The South Side bombers. Rockville Sta. 3 - The Rock. Laytonsville Sta. 17 - Job seekers, with the old 7up dots holding a news paper with helmets on and holding various tools. Damascus Sta. 13 - The Hornets Nest, named after the school mascot, morale patch has a nasty looking hornet in the center holding an axe and a helmet on. Hope this helps ya.

BCFD E 14 is Fort Hollins, (they are located on Hollins St) and the Fort part is because they take more small arms fire then any other company in the city. LOL

At least they've got the "gentleman's agreement" with the dealers on the block. Never seen a car in the FD lot get broken into yet!
Since you're talking about the 3rd, you've also gotta give props to housemates Engine 8 - "West Side Thunder," and Truck 10 - the "Wicked Stick of the West." Hey PrideofPigTown, what slogans ya got goin' at E55 and T23?

IFFTooTall, if only the department would fund shirts like that!! HoseNUDownHunny, try www.FDTees.com, we are currently working out our design with them, and they have done great work for alot of DCFD, like the House of Pain shirt and Engine 2 Chinatown. They go out of their way to be accurate and detailed concerning the apparatus. Best shirts I have seen and we have been huntin all around. Good luck!

Im in Baltimore COunty Maryland, and am taking fire 1 at MFRI headquarters with a bunch of PG county companies. Sayings for two are as follows.
Co. 12-First Due in the U
They have UMCP in their first due.
Co. 33-Finshing the job others cant.
This is Kentland. They are infamous for squirrelling calls in other company's boxes, from what ive heard, ive never had an experience with them.

Engine 9:
I always wanted to have "Golden Ghetto" painted acros the top of the engine. Columbia is not known for being the worst place in the world, but behind the pretty trees and fresh cut grass is one big shit hole. Gotta love city relocated section 8 housing.
Engine and Medic 7:

I'm with the DuBois F.D. in DuBois PA and we at Engine 5 are known as the Bingville Boys. Here's the story dating back to the early 1900s:
At that time, the hose company received a "streamlined" two-wheeled hose cart. During this period, the City of DuBois had a streetcar system in place throughout town, and after a fire, many of the men were quite tired. So they would hook the cart to the dogcatcher at the rear of the streetcar and have it hauled back to the hose company garage. A bell on the streetcar would sound throughout this trip and with the hose cart attached to the back, the company soon received the nickname "Bingville." The name is still in use and many men have been proud to be called one of the "Bingville Boys."

There is a story or reason behind all of them. You should look to the history and neighborhood in which your company is located. Draw from that and you will find a good nickname.
