Medic 26 and Basic 16

No more than 2 weeks ago, I saw these two new units on the road. The conversion was made by Horton, they sport a whole new paint scheme, about the size of the morgue wagons, and as far as I know, A16 is equipped with a CD player. Anybody ridden on them yet? How are they to work off of? Are they gonna replace the whole fleet with these new trucks seeing as though they city just brought new ambulances, with those slow flashing LED's no more than a year ago.

I rode A-16 the other night. It's pretty nice. I don't know if the box is actually bigger or if it's just configured differently, but there's a ton of room in the back. I also like that the step in height at the side door is much lower than to old ambos for our ambulatory patients. The siren on that thing is deafening too. The best part is......it's red and white!

I believe the city is working on getting new units like that for everyone eventually. I don't have the budget in my hands to tell you that for sure but DFC Moore is on top of his game when it come to equipment. (and the job in general)

Just one thing to ask all the people still waiting to get your new unit...........PLEASE stop trying to screw ours up because you don't have one yet. Its not our fault and we are trying to take care of this thing the best we can. Thanks

Why is that such a good thing, because it looks more like a fire truck. Just remember it is an Ambulance, an Emergency Medical Vehicle. The colors don't make it any different.

No tricks it does have a powercall siren and its pretty loud.

When firemen are staffing an ambo it should look like it's part of the fire dept. I believe having the ambos look a little more like the rest of the dept apparatus will improve morale and pride amongst those riding them. Just my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.

You know what? The ringer on my cell phone is set with a powercall siren tone. When I heard A16 come up to GW one afternoon, I had to look down at my phone to see if it was actually ringing.
