(Newington-AP, May 26, 2006 6:23 AM) _ Newington Fire Chief Chris Schroeder has been suspended for six months amid allegations of sexual harassment.
The fire commission voted yesterday to suspend Schroeder. He has been accused of sexually harassing a volunteer firefighter.
The commission cited Schroeder for disorderly conduct and conduct unbecoming an officer. It says he must attend a training course on sexual harassment and an Employee Assistance Program and obtain supervisory instruction before he will be reinstated.
Schroeder was appointed chief in June of last year after former Fire Chief James Trommer resigned. He was still on a 12-month probation period as chief when the complaint was filed.
