Today in Monkeyland we find Ole Chief in a mood of contemplativeness and deep thought. He believed many years ago as a probie at the Fort when he first entered the federal fire service that he had the world by the “gonads”. He thought, “one day I will be the fire chief and I and only I will rule over my kingdom” as previous great rulers have done. But after many years of mismanagement, uneducated fire chiefs, fire chiefs that lacked testosterone producing sacks, the COW, budget cuts, reduced funding as a result of 9/11, transfer of funding to the football team, scandal(s), the Naval Regionalization Program, the consolidation with NDW, retirements, probies that know more than anyone else, and equipment of the highest quality what is left to experience?

Now our illustrious friend and fire chief contemplates the day that he can finally put his turnouts on the rack one last time. The day is coming soon but is not here yet. Until that time our buddy will spend many days in the twilight of his career with this look on his face. Thinking how good life will be once he doesn’t have to put up with daily complaints, nonsensical request on his time and energy and the non-support offered by the base administration. Until that time hang in there buddy, your day is coming.

Thanks goes out to TASKFORCE for the much needed intervention. There is no need to use names for personnel attacks. We all know who these scumbags are but the threat of physical violence cannot be tolerated. And if I hear one more thing about me "Why, why, I will moider you!"

"Oh, mutiny, eh?" "Yeah, and it's not on the Bounty!"

And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
