Just read a copy of the new "What's Happening" and thought I would share a couple thoughts with everyone over the content.

1. The annual DoD Fire & Emergency Services Training Conference promises to be another banner event for networking, seminars, educational sessions, briefings, and exhibits. All participants are encouraged to plan the conference days carefully to allow maximum participation in Fire-Rescue International, DoD and Navy sessions.

Networking, yeah sitting around telling war stories and about how the local unions are messing everthing up. Oh, and this classic "where all the white women be at"! I likes dem with the big nipples. Maximum participtaion means where to play golf or go out drinking.

What a waste of the tax payers dollars, remember years ago the slotted 6K for dept. training? That was enough to cover Randy and Tommy's trip to this overbloated BS session and it got worst as Nick, Charlie and Hap then began to go. Nothing like seeing that ranch house from the show "Dallas". This did nothing for the USNAFD or its employees.

2. We have tentatively scheduled a Friday afternoon session with Mr. Cwalina to discuss CNIC issues and direction with the Regional F&ES staffs.

What is he going to say? About how they are cutting engine companies and cross-staffing ambo's with the skeleton crew that is leftovers? More blah, blah, blah from these blow-hards.

3.We are nearing the completion of our FY05 report that summarized and
evaluates our significant F&ES saves for the year.

Yeah, more about saving bucks by cutting more and more because of the Cost of War (Da' COW). I thought uncle Rummy once said at a Congressional hearing "you fight the war with what you have, not what you wish you had". But how can you fight when you dont have anything.

4.One of our most valuable resources is our Fire Prevention section. These personnel interface with the public, contractors, and leadership on a daily basis. The inspections and public education training provided no doubt contribute to our successful fire prevention programs and our very low loss rates. Occasionally, our prevention personnel are asked to assist with development of building evacuation plans, activity fire prevention policies, and special needs evacuations procedures, plans, or equipment for personnel with disabilities. This is the heart of the prevention business by contributing to safe work practices and procedures to ensure effective evacuation when needed.

Oh no, this first line is like the spike through a vampires heart. And they are now so brazen about saying this, that prevention is one of the most valuable resources? What they are saying is that they are now willing to keep prevention and snuff out suppression. Why, due to inspections and interaction with the public, contractors, and leadership on a DAILY basis. More bad news here than I can shake a stick at.

5.Our fire operations personnel also have a key role with the prevention programs as they are often utilized for facility inspections, hot works permits and public education training as well.

Hell, the USNAFD had done this for crap for at least 40 years Inspections, permits and wearing the sparky suit, just a normal day in ole Annapolis. This ought to be of great comfort to those who either do or have done this in the past. Yippy!

NOTE: On page 25 of 26 get aload of the picture of Freddie Thompson of NAVSTA Rota Spain. Look at all the gold on this meglomaniacs sleeves. And why in the hell has he got all those Maltese Crosses on? He must have had that class A suit made at the Holzberger & Jackson Taylor shop! Old Freddy got more gold on than Mr. T.
