Cue the Vonage theme.....
Sort of invalidates the point of carrying your EMT & CPR card, doesn't it.
When Mr. Fenty removes EMS from the F.D., I sure hope he hires someone who's never been associated with DC to run it.

That is my fear, Brooks, is that when said third service comes to be its going to be the same dysfunctional managers running it. I also fear that anybody currenly employed with EAB will have automatic employment with the new service. Nothing will change, it will just be a new name.

I can't imagine a situation where the current EAB wouldn't be automatically employed by the 'new EMS Department', nor can I say that it shouldn't be that way. DC government is fairly liberal, and generally wouldn't fire people without cause - which is exactly what NOT employing current employees due to a reorganization would be.
On the other hand, the new department SHOULD have new, competent managers from outside, at least for the first few years, and SHOULD have new standards for performance, which may give 'cause' for termination if not met.

I must say you hit the nail on the head. EMS needs someone unknown to the City to run it, no friends = no favortism. As far as employment it would happen the same as OUC, employees are just transfered to the new agency.
Just a JOB

EMS Only, you should change your name. You have betrayed all of us in the EAB. Sold out and went to firefighting! I will never trust you again.
