COVENTRY, Conn. -- Authorities are investigating the sixth fire in northwest Connecticut in recent weeks.
Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Diana Rocco reported a fire erupted with flames reaching at least 10 feet high in Coventry on Tuesday afternoon.
Rocco said the scene of the fire is located in a rural, secluded area off Route 6.
State and town fire marshals are investigating at the scene to determine whether the fire is suspicious.
Rocco reported a person along a hiking trail just yards behind the house saw the fire and immediately called police.
Andover firefighters who were in the area responded to the fire at a barn belonging to Cindy Hutchins' father. By the time they responded, the fire engulfed the entire barn and was spreading fast.
"It had to get going pretty hot to go that far over. We're just glad that it wasn't the house and that he's OK," Hutchins said.
Rocco reported that police K-9s sifted through the remains at the scene.
Five other fires in the area were deemed suspicious earlier this month.

MANSFIELD, Conn. -- Police are investigating a fire in an area where there have been three other fires in the past month -- two of which were ruled arson.
Around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon the Mansfield Fire Department responded to a blaze on Warrenville Road. They quickly requested backup, police said.
The fire consumed an outdoor shed, becoming the third structure fire in the past month on that road alone. The shed was declared a complete loss.
Police said Wednesday's fire bears a striking similarity to the other recent fires in the area.
"We're working with state police to try and stop this series of fires," said chief of the Mansfield Fire Department David Dagon.
Suspects have yet to be identified in two arson cases and police continue to investigate the incidents.

MANSFIELD, Conn. -- Officials are investigating the third fire in the past three days in a normally quiet town.
The latest fire destroyed an old Warrensville Road chicken coop in Mansfield Thursday.
"That was my grandfather's barn, and that was my grandfather's chicken coop. We're very shocked that this happened," said Bill Bradley.
Tuesday, a barn about a quarter of a mile away from the chicken coop was destroyed by fire. The barn belonged to Charles Harakaly's grandfather and was built in 1930.
"You can never pay for the value of this. It's history, town history," Harakaly said.
Wednesday, a hunting lodge was destroyed by fire.
Investigators are determining whether the three fires are related. Officials said that the fires may be a result of arson.
None of the news stations or newspapers seem to ahve anything on the Ashford fire on Monday the 30th.
