Hey Jokel f-121, are you going to wait until one of our fellow F/F's get seriously hurt, before you get off your incompetent A*s', and do something, about this O/T.
Because we've been working to much O/T here in Central Division, and we're getting ragged-out, and I've seen some of our Guy's doing things that are unsafe, because their tired. I think a Man working 4-5 days in a row is long enough, how about you.
I think I'm going to file a "Complaint" about Jokel f-121, for letting this unsafe practice continue with their "Knowledge".
Eddie and his guys don't care, you're just "numbers". All he's
worried about is his bonus and his fat check. HE DON"T WORK
ANY O/T! The more he does with less the better he looks and
the bigger that bonus (incentive award) is! He has a select
few that he looks out for and they take care of him.

Mr. Outsider,
If you have a solution to the OT problem, let's hear it! If you can fix it, please do. Otherwise your continued bitching and complaining is helping no one.
Be a man, step forward and take some responsibility. After all, anyone can hide and the shadows and throw stones. Be a man, come forward and then we may have some faith in your words. Until then, shut the F*#k up.

After all, anyone can hide and the shadows and throw stones
Dork46, It should read: After all, anyone can hide (IN) the shadows, and throw stones.
Just thought you would like to know this.

Here's a few suggestions....The UNION should make MANAGEMENT DO THEIR FRIGGIN JOBS! Make management actively hire to make up for the CONSTANT manpower shortage due to people LEAVING for BETTER jobs! For years the shortage has run from 15-30%! That alone would help the O/T thing GREATLY! BUT NO! Management looks GOOD by doing MORE with LESS! THEY get a fat INCENTIVE AWARD and YOU get WORKED into the dirt! Same thing with apparatus! Management will wait until things hit critical before fixing ANYTHING! When you ask, they say "It's not in the budget." Well how about at one of theose "labor-management meetings" that the UNION is supposed to be having that they PUSH to get it IN the budget?! There seems to be enough there for those nice "command vehicles", etc. There seems to be enough money for MANAGEMENT and UNION OFFICERS to go to all these "seminars". How about the fact that when you have to do O/T at some remote station that you DON'T GET TRAVEL PAY/MILEAGE? You are supposed to BY LAW! YOU ARE ON DUTY WHILE TRAVELLING.
Oh. and don't hope for any coverage while travelling to another station for O/T and you get hurt in an accident. You're on your own! And if you like O/T now, then wait until you get that new 48/72 shift that the UNION loves so much! Then Management can work you for 72hrs straight on O/T and do it MORE FREQUENTLY than the old 24/24 shift! Look at a calendar and count it out! Doing MORE with LESS and getting the SAME money! (That YOU don't get!)
You know damned well that Management and the Union Officers get travel pay when they go "on business". While addressing manning, how about Management cutting manpower which affects safety by "cross-manning" ? If you are SUPPOSED to have an engine and a truck, then you are SUPPOSED to have CREWS! OSHA and NAVOSH says so, but Eddie and Comapany don't think so (might cut into their "businsess expenses").
I'll bet that when the cuts come down that the MONEY doesn't get cut! Apparatus has suffered, but after EVERY "consolidation" the apparatus maintenance budget INCREASES (look at the board on the office wall). Each time NDW acquires a new station because of consolidation, they pick up that apparatus. Oh! And don't forget such places as A.P. Hill! He's even getting money from them! I'll bet when he closes CBD to "cut expenses" that he won't lose any apparatus billets or fire protection budget money, just cut some more manpower and use that money for something else!
How come the UNION isn't over at Bldg-200 asking these questions? Ooops! That might make somebody mad! Can't have that! You're right. They'll just wait until someone is injured or killed on the job and then a Safety Roundtable will be held and it will be decided that the cause was "firefighter/employee error" and once again Management and the Union will have clean hands. How come the UNION isn't on the phone with IAFF Headquarters asking for help from them? How come the UNION isn't telling you what's going on?
Management GETS the money in their budget for 100% staffing whether they hire or not! The GET the money for apparatus maintenance and replacement whether they spend it or not! Management GETS the money for training YOU whether they spend it or not! The NAVY isn't THAT stupid! SO WHERE'S THE MONEY? SO WHERE'S THE MANNING? SO WHERE'S THE REPAIRS AND EQUIPMENT? SO WHERE'S YOUR TRAINING?
ASK YOUR UNION! Make the UNION get straight answers from Management! Better yet make the UNION have Management TELL YOU TO YOUR FACES!

Don’t expect the overtime issue to be fixed anytime soon at Central… The comment about stepping up…. Listen up Buckwheat….. There’s been plenty of guys tossing in suggestions for years… And where has it gotten us? …One solution would be to hire temporary workers, have them report in as needed.. This would allow them to already be in the system and decrease the hire time when job vacancies arise. What’s the hiring time now from the time the vacancy is posted to when we see them on the floor 3 -4 months? If not longer….UFB !!!

The union's so called officers don't care about you guy's and gal, they and their cronies, or should I say followers don't have to work it.
