Can anyone elaborate on the MVC on SB 896 tonight, 12/30 about 1930 hours, about a mile south of Route 40? It appeared to be pretty serious. I am not familiar with the area or fire stations in the area.

Investigators with the Delaware State Police are trying to piece together why the driver of a utility truck failed to stop at a traffic light at the intersection of Del. 896 and Denny Road in Glasgow and slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer Saturday night.
According to police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Oldham, the driver of a pickup truck, Enoch F. South, was pronounced dead amid the tangled wreckage that sat jammed beneath the trailer donned with the Acme supermarket logo.
Oldham had few details about the 7 p.m. crash, but said the driver of the semi, Darryl L. Yancey, of Bear, 48, was not injured.
The tractor-trailer was stopped in the southbound lanes at a red light at the intersection of Del. 896 and Denny Road when "the pickup fails to stop and runs into the rear of the tractor-trailer and goes underneath it."
The driver of the 1993 Ford F350 was trapped inside the wreckage and later pronounced dead at the scene, Oldham said.
Traffic was backed up for miles from the scene of the crash to Pulaski Highway. Also, traffic flow in the vicinity of Del. 896 and Denny Road was snarled for several hours as investigators set up detours to enable them to work the scene.
First responders used a hydraulic tool known as "the jaws of life" to free the victim from the Ford F350 utility truck as several passers-by mentioned the portion of highway where the accident occurred is poorly lit.
