No, you heard right. Since management and HRO have failed to hire new firefighters in over a year and took over another fire station (co52) we work anywhere between 3-7 firefighters each day overtime. So you see how most ndw firefighters have to work 72hrs and some 96 hrs before you can go home. :D

WTF???

Forget the friggin' "union" and "management"!!! WHY isn't
somebody writing their congressman or the Federal Labor
Relations Board???

Are you all suckers for punishment???

What happened to that "relief from overtime work" that
was "supposed" to take place by relocating the people
from CBD? Oh that's right. You need to fill that slot for
President and his Officers who need to go on "official
business" and can't staff the apparatus. And don't forget
the slots needed for staffing while management sends a
few favorites out to "seminars", IAFC, expos, conventions
and other "special classes".

I need to ask who came up with these hours of work, and where is the normal hours of 144, not to say some one need s to look at the FLSA law,
What did the local file in order to negotiate the change of hours of work, and if management did not, where is the ULP, did the local request help from FMCS , as well FSIP. on negotiations of the issue.

There is something wrong with the picture and not all the information is out in the open.

If you dont have all the info. than start writing and calling for help.

Their scheduled hours haven't changed, they are just working a ton of OT because the FC hasn't hired in a long long time. All the while folks are continuing to leave in droves.

The belief is the few people that will move from the closing CBD station will cure this ill but reality will set in when there is still OT and CBD is closed.

iAFFunion74, the local here (f-121) hasn't done a thing to help relieve the O/T. Management wanted to reduce manning through the Holiday's for the F/F's, so they could spend some time with their loved ones, but the local whinned and said NO!!!!!!!

Management has done it every year since I've been here, but I guess it wasn't helping the academy, so the local shot it down.

You work for an employer so, correct me if I am wrong, the employer gets to make decisions like this and not the union.

Dork46, You just made my point, what good is a union in the Federal Workplace.

Good luck cause your gonna need it, they closed 1 station which 1 is next? I heard from a birdie it may either be Betesda or one of Pax Rivers.

It seems that the employees need to under stand , that MANAGEMENT HAS A RIGHT TO DERTERMINMED THE MISSION: THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO HIRE , THEY HAVE A
RIGHT FIRE, THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO MEET THE BUDGET. THE LAST IS THE RIGHT TO TAKE A RISK AS THEY SEE FIT.

UNDER THOSE TERMS THE UNION CAN NEGOTIATE THE IMPACT OF THOSE DECISIONS,

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ 5 CFR 7106 MANAGEMENTS RIGHTS. AREA

AS FAR AS OVERTIME YOU CAN NEGOTIATE HOW IT WILL BE APPLIED TO EACH EMPLOYEE EQUIALY. NOT THE THE HOURS OF WORK,

LOOK AROUND ON HOW OTHER BASES MEET THERE MISSION , IT COMES FIRST NO MATTER WHAT.

LOOK AT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE MEN. YOU COULD HAVE AN ISSUE.

OSHA has rules in these areas. as well as flra has decisions on these issues.

put all your efferts into getting infermation on stoping the long hours.

remember the pen is stronger than the loud mounth. and fire house lawyer.

Wow- That Will Be A Good Issue : Number One Thing If Your Certified There Is A Good Chance You May Be Considered.

Under The New Pass-fail System, And Under Nsps Program Management could Select Anyone Out Side Of The Unit At What Ever Gread And Step. ,remember Pay-banding There Is No Greade And The Pay Is Opem,

The Firefighters Still Need To Read Up On Pay-banding And Learn How It Will Apply To All Positions.

Remember There Are No Greads, Only Positions. !!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck.

;) This has nothing to do about your hours, but how the hell are you guys allowing Annapolis to over hire ?? Aren't you guys working an abundance of overtime?? Sounds like things have never changed. You guys at Central are getting screwed again. Ohh yeah, what's up with the boys at Indian Head not getting detailed, or working overtime at Dahlgren?? Isn't Central getting detailed and working overtime at Carderock ?? I did however hear that your Vice President R.S is sticking up for you guys, and that's something you're not use to from the previous Taliban Regime of J.R !!!

Thanks KingDickUla, I don't know who you are, but you bring up some excellent points, and good information in Ref to the entire command.

Hey f-121 are you listening, do you see this, someone else see's how inept you are, for not looking-out for all your members, but just looking out for a chosen few.

But what you heard about R.S. KingDickUla, is a crock of B******T, the only person he has, or ever will stick-up for, his himself.
