My service is looking to purchase a new ALS vehicle. Does anyone know of any agencies who do this?? I have already checked with Swabwagon and Fesco. I appreciate any help on this matter.

We are located in Ranson, WV, in the Eastern Panhandle, approximately 70 miles from Wash DC and 80 miles from Baltimore MD.

Ransom, is that out near Charlestown? What type of vehicle are you looking for transport or non transport?

Man, I guess my brain must have been off duty when I started this thread. We have a chase vehicle, which basically is staffed with the same equipment as the ambulance, but without the transport capability. We are actually looking for conversion companies who can add this box to a pickup truck. See www. swabwagon.com for details.

And yes, we are right next to Charles Town.

New Castle County (DE) EMS primarily uses Chevy Suburbans as their chase units. They also have a few mini-mods in the fleet to supplement (2) units that may be in a position to transport prior to BLS arrival (Medic 1 in the City of Wilmington and Medic 5 in the southern end of the county).

For as long as I can remember, the suburban has been their choice of vehicle based on its past performance, capabilities, and options. Maybe 15/16 Tip could elaborate more on this. The county has had contracts in the past for the Ford Crown Victoria police cars, so I would not believe this choice is based just by vendor contract.

This county is extremely busy as far as ALS responses and I can tell you that high milages in short time spans are definitley occuring. The vehicle maintenance shop is religious about getting their varioius fleets through P.M. services as well.

Odysses auto is a very good company for chase cars I would really look into them.
