My husband and I are thinking about relocating to Florida. The west coast, around Clearwater, or Pinellas County. I am a NREMT-Paramedic, looking into Sunstar EMS. Does anyone have any information on this department? Or any suggestions for other ALS departments. I am not a firefighter, and have no interest in becoming one. My husband, on the other hand, is a FF and has dispatch experience. So can anyone give us some guidence on what's worth looking at down there?? And what about living areas? What's nice, what's not? Any help would be appreciated!!! THANK YOU

Since your going to be in the CLearwater area, St Petersburg sounds like they will be having some openings with everyone leaving for surrounding departments. Of course that is not selling point either.....do some research of your own and with references from those within is your best shot.

check out St petes site, the link is on the other thread, read what they have to say.

Someone PM you regarding? Palm Harbor should be putting on 6 FF/PM,s... (that's the rumor)
St.Pete will be looking...not sure how many. Long hiring process. I believe they have shortened it a bit.
Sunstar is the private ambulance service.
Florida does not recognize NR...so you most likely have to challenge the state test... not sure if that has changed?
Plenty of nice area's here...was getting pricey...but the real estate has leveled off so it''s a buyers market....taxes and insurance stings a bit.
Were in the North end of the County....would be unfair to be specific to a certain part of the County...lot's of great places to live... If your not into congested traffic... look farther ...North...Spring Hill...South...Manatee.
They are getting pretty busy as well though, and I am not familiar with their job openings, or departments.

Other than that...it's probably going to be 74 and Sunny here today....
Good Luck
