Pentagon huh, You deployed on that?
Just curoius, since our deployment history has been to natural disasters.
(Large geographical area of destruction)
There must be many learned experiences from that deployment alone...
Let me ask you...did you find that communication between multiple SAR teams that were there fell seriously short of the mark?
I understand that the Pentagon incident was site specific...so it may not be as strong of an issue...
As we have learned.. one team could be staged in a geographical area....while another team is responding to the same general area...yet have no idea either one of us are there (till your passing them on the interstate) ...making resource management/communication a bit of a PITA.
I am sure central command is aware...but at the BOO....or on a grid...you never know.

Be safe out there ;)
TIA

Well ...... I sort of "fell into" USAR about 7 months after 9/11 so I wasn't there at the Pentagon. I worked ALOT of overtime though because of the deployment. LOL The fire department big wigs sort of said something to effect of "It's either a transfer from your station/shift or USAR". I took USAR/Special Ops and never looked back. It was one of the best career choices I've ever made !!!

I've made several local deployments and only a few national. We've stood by in Va. Beach for a few days (vacation), we went to Dallas/Ft. Worth for a week and "stood by" (another vacation) and I spent 8 days in Waveland, Mississippi (the big one).

Would you be Fla. 1 or Fla. 2 ?? What do you special in ?? How long have you been on the team ??

Communication is ALWAYS a BIG problem. Either within the the Task Force itself or between agencies. Home Land Security Department is huge and we as USAR are just one of many "little guys". Communication will always be a problem. It's the government.

Talk to ya later.

Kevin.

Kevin.

St Petersburg, Hillsborough, and Tamp Fire Departments make up FLTF-3.
State Team...

I am with St Pete.... #4 B

Mother nature can be devastating....I believe we have not even started to use this invaluable resource to it's full capacity yet.... but as we have seen...were going to need it annually.
We were lucky last year.... wish all seasons were that way...but most likely... not the case.
Pics do not do the disaster justice...amazed at how buildings residential, or commercial were cleaned to the slab....just like a fresh pour. No rebar, no plumbing stubbed out...notta...sheared clean to the concrete.
Just shows you who the Boss is...in the grand scheme of things.

Be safe out there.
