Job Position: Firefighter/paramedic
Organization: Urbana Fire Division

Position Description: The City of Urbana is seeking applications for the position of firefighter/paramedic. Applications may be picked up at the Urbana Fire Department or call 937-652-4371.
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications.
1.U.S. Citizen
2.Age 18-69 at time of written test.
3.High school graduate or GED
4.Vision correctable to 20/20
5.Valid Driver’s license
6.No 1st degree misdemeanor traffic conviction within the previous three years
7.No felony convictions
8.Must successfully pass all of the following tests:
A. Written aptitude/knowledge
B. Physical agility
C. Physical condition
D. Background check
9. The applicant shall also participate in an unassembled test evaluating his/her successful completion of specified training. The score of this test shall combine with the written aptitude/knowledge test as follows:
The written aptitude/knowledge test shall have a passing score of 70% and shall have an 80% value of the final score. The unassembled test will be scored only after a successful completion of the aptitude/knowledge test and shall have a value of 20% of the final score. The unassembled test will have no minimum passing score.
The unassembled test will be scored as follows:
40% Firefighter certification (Ohio Level II or equivalent)*
60% Paramedic certification (State of Ohio)
25% EMT certification (when not claiming Paramedic points)
To receive credit on the unassembled test, appropriate proof of certification(s) must be postmarked no later than April 12, 2007, 2007 or hand delivered by April 13, 2007 at 4 P.M. to the Urbana Fire Division, 107 East Market Street, Urbana, OH 43078.
The candidate as provided in the previous paragraph must prove equivalent certification of Level II firefighter for Ohio. The may take three weeks or more. For more information contact Ohio Public Safety.
Qualified Veterans may receive up to five points added to a passing score. In addition, persons hired may at a later date be required to successfully complete training in general public safety such as police.
The written aptitude/knowledge test will be given on April 16, 2007 at 7P.M. at Urbana High School located at 500 Washington Avenue.
