Any good ideas or hints about how to go about putting a truck together?
This truck will be located in a rural setting. Anything would help!

I know what the town needs for a truck. Just looking for the insurance,NFPA,OSHA, and other B.S. that will show the towns people why we need it.

If you are trying to show your towns people why you need a truck? the first thing you need to do is educate the public on what a truck is and what it is use for? Then, show the towns people area in your town that it is going to be needed for. Large 3 stry coloniels set back off the road with steep roofs. ensure firefighter safety. If you ensure firefighters safety, it means a better insurance rating for the town. Less likely hood of firefighter injury which would decrease insurance rates for the town. Better ISO rating, if property owners can get better insurance ratings for their properties they are all for it. If you get a pump on it show how combining a pump with a ladder can help you do your job better. show that todays new fire technology on these new trucks can help you do you job more effectively. if you can prove it will save lives and property, then you are meeting your goal by town standards. also a past incident that the device could of been used and changed the outcome would be good to include. If you did have any injuries in the past couple of years, use that to ensure safety among firefighters. The smallest things put together could get you your new ladder. the bigest thing is educate the public of your needs and how it will effect or protect them.

I tried to pm but it says you have exeeded your message limit. Delete some of your junk, then send a pm to wsfd44, he can most likely answer your questions, since it's only been a couple years since we got our new rescue.

Public is going to argue the point of "Where is the money going to come from?" next.

Trucks ...with atleast 4-1,500 gpm pumpers sitting out on the street on most structure assigments...maybe flowing a preconnect...can provide more than enough to supply a ladder,,,tower....tower/ladder. That leaves the truck companies manpower to do what they were called for in the first place....search/rescue/ventilation and it takes all of them to do that....

Yes "John" is at everytown meeting, and he will always argue about money, but when town safety is involved, they ( the towns people) ,not John will spend the money to be safe. I do not know what town this truck is for but when it comes to where the money is coming from, you could look at bonding the truck out, I not sure what your bond rating is (if the town has one). any surplus money from last year, you can get a demo model for about $600,000 or cheaper, I don't recommend this because it will not be set-up to the towns needs. Trade in value will probable not be much but you can try. The last resort is raising taxes, and never say take it out of the school budget. Most towns put aside money every year for special purchases ie a new dump truck, police car, street sweepers, etc. Everytown will have extra surplus from sand and snow removal this year? look at the towns finances, you need to do your home work on how the town budgets things and go from there.

Your answer is, Yes. You can bond almost anything that has a value under the years it is worth, simply stating, if you have 10 years to pay the loan off, you would need to make sure the truck is estimated to last at least 10 years 1 month.

I found in the ISO requirements that if you have 5 buildings that are greater in height of 3 stories or more, or 3 buildings requiring a fire flow of 3500GPM to extinguish, your town should have ladder truck. I have forwarded the proper paperwork to the proper chief, good luck! :D
(I'm here for you!)

Just to add to MTFD515 comments I believe if there is a school with more than two stories high you are required to have ladder. The town in question has one right down the road. ( church with addition that was built as a school) Town records should verify this.
