I understand that "Big Ed" has started the wheels turning to shutdown Carderrock.

He and his CNI cronies, have put their collective heads together (you fiqure out which heads), and have come up with a new game plan, to save monies, and it involves shuting down Carderrock.

I heard they are willing to pay Mont. Co. to protect the "Rock", rather than pay to keep it manned, all they're willing to pay are the Inspectors there to keep some type of Fire Prevention record keeping.

Don't forget the next round of manning cutbacks at the
Academy and Bethesda. Also Indian Head should be
worrying about their substation. It's on his list as well.
Bethesda is on his list even higher in preparation for
the Walter Reed closure and consolidation. (Army men
and equipment).

Eddie doesn't care as long as HE has HIS job and HIS
cronies at Bolling are taken care of. To HIM it's all about
the $$$$$$$$. He doesn't care about life safety, working
conditions or hours, or employees on the floor. He ONLY
cares about the $$$$$$$.

Yes outsider, we also heard the same thing, that Special Ed and the brain trust from Navy Fire were up to backdoor political BS again. They can save at least 1.5 mil by closing it down and having just an inspector assigned there during the week for systems and hot work permits.

Also heard they are looking at some more cross staffing/ cuts at PAX. Do you have any update on that??????

Carderrock was under discussion back in the 80's for closing along with Stump neck and Cheltinham. CBD was also on the list back then. So this is nothing new.

Hey Twig, or anyone else for that matter, have you heard that Indian Head can't run their Haz-Mat off base, because it's in such poor condition, that they (Little Ed, and his so called Command Officers) are affraid it would get slapped with a DOT URC "Unsafe for the Road Citation".

Outsider;

No surprise there. I betcha that those "Command Vehicles"
(the SUV's for the 'officers' and 'inspectors') are in tip-top
shape, though. No expense too great for Eddie and his 'boyz'.

The REAL firefighters will 'just have to get by' because 'we
aren't budgeted for that'. I guess that some other folks will
have to start changing their own tires and doing their own
apparatus maintenance again (still?).

Yah! I'm sure that the "Union" is all over this (unsafe working
conditions) as we speak....NOT!!!
