I just got off the phone with someone in the know, so let me hand out the bad NEWS:
Hey ALS 20, No let me rephrase that, Hey BLS 20, hope you all enjoyed (as in past tense) running into Charles Co., because that is coming to a halt (see that red light ahead) real soon, thanks to you know who (Hint, he wears 5 bugles).
Also because of the status quo with the Manpower, when the "Rock" closes' it doors (yes I said closes' it's doors, their out buying padlocks right now), and when the Academy loses' it 2nd piece (You have a Quint remember), and stump neck gets the axe (and it's being sharpened as I write), and all the other great and wonderful things a certain person we all know and love (I'm being Sarcastic here) gets pushed through, their is going to be something called a RIF hitting the floor, and boys and girls I just did the math, and it don't add up, their are alot more bodies than vacancies we have have now.
Now I know in the past I've kinda, well, how can I put it, I've been a little hard on the union, but hey guy's, does the phrase "No Confidence Vote" ring a bell.
P.S.
Hey Dalghren, don't think your coming out of this unscathed, your juggler is exposed big time , and the knive is being placed against it (their's so munch that can be shaved there, they're drooling).

I was just kinda curious as to why central was not even mentioned in the "inside information" regarding the cuts? Are they not being considered for potential engine company cuts? Because the info I heard stated that TW21 and E41 will be combined into a quint company. Furthermore, your information about the academy could be very realistic, but how could they reduce everything down to a single quint? That doesnt make any sense....however I will say that eddie and his chronies are doing whatever they can to look out for number 1.....

INURFIRSTDUE, I'm sorry, the reason that I didn't mention Central, was/is because we all know that's going to happen, just thought that was common knowledge.
We will be the very first head on the chop'n block.
The reason "central" isn't mentioned is because Eddie is looking out
for his 'boyz'! The rest of you all are just sitting ducks in his shooting
gallery! The "union" is right in bed with Eddie on this and thye will NOT
be making any waves! Their 'boyz' have to be looked after as well.
If you think that there are bodies under the bus now, just wait until
the Walter Reed/Bethesda consolidation comes up! More bodies to
throw under that big bus!
BTW...The total outcome of the "plan" as it was conceived YEARS
ago by Eddie S. and Bill K. is to end up with atuomated alarm systems,
supervised automatic suppression systems (CO2, Halon, sprinklers, etc.)
and a group of Fire Inspectors with Eddie (or his hand-picked successor)
as the "Chief" and all suppression (that's YOU ALL) being contracted
out! Of course all of those nice young tender "Officers" personnally
selected by Eddie will continue on in specially-created supervisory
positions overseeing those "systems" with the "Chief" supervising the
supervisors who will then be supervising NOTHING but getting paid WELL.
The rest of you all (read suppression personnel) will be on the pavement
looking for new jobs while the "supervisors/managers" will be spending
YOUR former salaries! Of course the "department budget" will NOT be
any lower so there will be PLENTY of money to go to his 'boyz' while
Bedrock burns to the foundation. Don't believe this? Get a copy of the
long range fire protection plan and read it! It's all in there! A copy of
this plan was published about 10 years ago. Your "union" (you know,
the ones who collect those dues and don't otherwise care about you)
SHOULD know how to obtain a copy of this.
Outsider's info is pretty accurate and follows this plan's information.
Maybe he has a copy?
Time to start working on your resumes and looking at some openings
in safety, DHS or other related areas that will be more RIF-proof.
Do it now before the rush! Your "union" sure isn't going to help you
and neither is HRO. With as much training as you all have most outside
depts would be happy to get people with your experience.
Just $.02
PS...You all might try a letter-writing campaign to the local juridictions
who will be ultimately coerced into providing protection to these
places. I'm sure Mayor Fenty would be just overjoyed to draw on his
already-strained resources and budget to protect NDW (it's NOT DC's
job to do this anyway) or any of those Counties in MD or VA who are
just getting their fire/rescue services started and have mostly Volunteers
to protect them (NOT a slam on the Volunteers) (again, it's NOT their
jobs to protect the US Gov't). These jusridictions have ENOUGH on
their plates to cover THEIR areas without the extra duty of protecting
the wealthiest operation in this country!

These consolidations and closings were started long before Bill K ever got involved in Navy Fire Protection. and longer before Eddie S started working for NDW. As stated before someone needs to dig out the past history. Hog was chief at Cheltinham when the consolidations talk was started.
