Can anyone help me with a list of bases in DOD that have GS-9 Firefighter / Paramedic positions? I know that there were a few at Ft. Rucker, AL, Cherry Point, NC, Camp Lejeune, NC and a DLA site in Richmond, VA. I know that most of the larger bases with hospitals have Paramedics that work for the hospital and fall under the medical series; I think they are only GS-7. Thanks for the help.

I believe that Ft. Belvoir has paramedics. Not sure if they're GS-9s though. I do know that the truck runs into Fairfax from time to time so you'll see work. Good luck.

Ft. Belvoir runs ALS Engines, They are Firefighter/ Intermediates, They have one or two Paramedics but they are GS-08 under the 0081 Class. I believe that they are hiring or just hires but they will be hiring for the new station in April of 08 a total of 22-23 people with Fire/Medics. PM me if u need more info.

Where is the new station going tobe located? What is going to be assigned there (apparatus that is)?
The new station will be located in Springfield in an area call E.P.G. off of Backlick and Rolling roads. Starting in the spring they will hire 12 firefighters and some firefighter/medics with another 12 next winter (2008). I also heard that this is on top of another 4 or 5 firefighters they need to hire right now, in addition to a few retirements coming up in a year. So from what I hear about that place it is going to be a "happening Place".
Also, I hear all their engines run with paramedics and they stay pretty busy on and off post and I think their GS-8s, I know a few people down there and they say they run als calls on aregular basis out in the county

Hey Dog:
I am a Firefighter/Medic at Ft.Belvoir. Yes all the Fire/Medics are GS-08's because there are more Intermediates than Paramedics and we don't run the ambulances.
The new staion wgich I here will be FS 469, will have an ALS Engine, Truck and an Ambo. the station will be a temp building and the station will be complete in 2009.
Atotal of 24 Firefighters (A mix of FF/ Medics will be hired) Half in April of 08 and Half after the first of next year. Whole lot of stuff is going to change once the new station gose active. I hear rumbles of a 48/72 shift but don't know when its hoing to happen.
