New reports now indicating more then 500+ acres are involved with ZERO percent containment. The PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) is closed in the area.
Reports that a power line may have dropped and touched off this incident.
Again the real issue is the winds, sparks and embers are blown around starting other fires. Pepperdine U has been partially evacuated, students sent to a protected area.
Some homes in the coast near Zuma beach are at risk.
Winds are deminishing now,and personel hope to get control before evening winds pick back up.

Some losses values have been set at $50 million, some one better get out a bigger calculator since homes in the Malibu coast areas can cost $10 mill each.. a personal estimate....1+ BILLION dollars.

This is the worst time of the year for me. I miss fighting fire soooo bad and the smell of it makes this even worse. Maybe I made a mistake, how I'm feeling right now is astounding.

LOL. I hate that term firestorm. There's only been five instances in history that could actually be called firestorms and these are not them. The last one was the Big Burn and that was almost 100 years ago. I love when the media uses terms that they have no idea what they actually mean.

Does CAL have a system for firefighters from other states that want to help out? Would they like pay for a plane ticket/working on the fire?

The state will make a request through ICS and there's a slight potential you might get requested, other than that there's no other way. And the ones we request are generally wildland firefighters from outta state. We're not gonna bring east coast firefighers out here, especially if they're not trained in even basic wildland suppresion as they just tend to get in the way.
