I do'ing research in Active Shooter Guidelines or SOP's. I know the Fire Dept should take a standby position and stage till the pd has secured the scene. If anyone can help with their Dept SOP or guideline, it would be greatly appreciated.

Some of the things that will really help you in an Active shooter situation is to either have a police radio that your units or command post can monitor or to have the first affiving officer meet up with the police commander and get intell off their radio. Unfortunately these scenes are soo chaotic that sometimes this will not be possible. From a Cop perspective, sometimes the best thing to do is allow the victims to self extricate, and meet you outside or better yet have a team of SWAT Medics that can go into the hot zone and remove the victims to a CCP where they can be triaged at a safe location.

This response guide is a great place to start as well, kudos should be given to August Vernon for producing it.

Thank you for your help. We currently have a hand full of SWAT Medics, they are currently our EMS Captains. The FD has not opened it up to other medics as of yet.
I have contacted August Vernon and he sent the same info. Thank you for your time.
