Fire Chief
Middletown Fire Protection District, Louisville Kentucky

Located within the Louisville Metro area, the Middletown Fire Protection District serves a 22 square mile district. The District is composed of a growing residential, light industrial, office, medical and shopping facilities along with several miles of interstate roadways. We serve a community of approximately 50,000 people who live or work within our service district. The Middletown Fire Protection District is responsible for delivery of fire suppression; multiple special rescues and extrication, EMS assistance, Fire Inspections/Fire Prevention; Training and apparatus maintenance.
The District also operates a regional training facility along with our own maintenance facility. Currently we have 3 stations staffed by 43 career and 24 volunteer firefighters. We operate on a platoon system with 24/48 staffing; “on call” volunteers and an active “live in” dorm program. The Fire Chief reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees as outlined in Kentucky Revised Statutes and is responsible for administering a budget of approximately 5 million dollars.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in Fire Science, Public Administration or related field-or- a combination of work experience and an Associates Degree comparable to a Bachelors degree in Fire Science, Public Administration or a related field; 15 years experience with a department of comparable size and composition; 4 years experience as a Chief Officer (Major,Lt. Colonel, or Colonel) or equivalent; Meet minimum training requirements of the National Incident Management System for Chief Officer, Staff Officer and/or Senior Management positions; Experience at the executive level in developing and administering budgets in excess of 1 million dollars.
