Kenton is a small community (Population 8,300) roughly an hour northwest of Columbus. Pleasant Twp. is a half an hour southwest of Columbus near the city of Lancaster.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Kenton will offer a Civil Service Entry Level Examination, to establish an eligibility list for Firefighter in the Kenton Fire Department, on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM, in the Municipal Building located at 111 West Franklin St., Kenton, Ohio 43326.
Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age to apply for Firefighter, must be a citizen of the United States and residents of the State of Ohio.
Application forms may be obtained at the City Clerk's Office located in the Municipal Building. Applications must be filed with the Clerk by Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 4:00 PM.
All ex-military personnel wishing to receive service credit must attach a copy of their discharge papers to the application.
NOTE: Anyone with an application currently on file must reapply in order to take the exam.

Pleasant Township
Progressive examination for the purpose of hiring full-time firefighters/paramedics and hiring part-time firefighters/EMT’s will be administered on April 4, 2008 at Station 572 located at 2925 Lancaster-Thornville Road Lancaster OH 43130.
The process shall consist of a Fire/EMS based written exam, a physical ability exam, a thorough background investigation, oral board interview(s), a physician’s physical examination, and stress test.
Minimum Requirements for Full-Time Firefighter: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated High school or possess a GED equivalent. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and not be convicted of any felony or Class A misdemeanors. By appointment date, must possess a State of Ohio Paramedic certification and Firefighter I and II certification.
Preference will be given to current employees of the Pleasant Township Fire Department in good standing and applicants who possess the following State of Ohio certifications: Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Fire or EMS Instructor.
Minimum Requirements for Part-Time Firefighter: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated High school or possess a GED equivalent. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and not be convicted of any felony or Class A misdemeanors. By appointment date, must possess a State of Ohio EMT certification and Firefighter I and II certification.
Deadline: Applications must be received either by mail or in person by 7:00 p.m. on March 20, 2008. Starting annual salary $27k for full-time firefighter/paramedic.
