I Have Recently Applied To A Posting In Pax River. I Received A Letter Stating That I Was Found To Be Qualified And That My Resume Was Sent To The Ahj. I Am Interested In The Position But Do Know What The Pax River Area Is Like. Please Feel Free To State Your Opinion Or Let Me Know How Or What You Feel Either Way

It depends on your situation. When I turned 30y/o the max age to get into the system was 35y/o, so I applied to a bunch of federal firefighting jobs. I took the first job offer I could get and moved from New Jersey to Mississippi. I’d never been to the area and rented an apartment over the internet. Essentially I was determined to make the best of whatever happened just to get a paid career.
Maybe you could get into the federal system, do some time, and get transferred to a base closer to home. You wouldn’t be the first person to do that.

As far as Pax River, I don’t have any info about the area, base or fire department.

Don't mean to shoot down your hopes but they have selected 11 new hires and from what I understand they are in process of doing physicals and background checks. May be a while before they get to hire again. The base is in St. Mary's County Maryland and is surrounded by water (Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent River and Potomac River). Nice area but one of the most rapidly growing counties in MD. You can google the county and should get hit for county government home page that gives a good overview. Good Luck maybe some of the new hires won't pass physicals or background checks.
