The way I read it was he didn't start shooting until fire was on scene. Guess fire needs to wear flak jackets also?

sounds like scene control was lax... PD unaware of situation as rig rolls in.. lack of info provided from call in to taker then to dispatch...as to what was potential of unknown.... some things would be prudent to know if found out.. did personel exiting the rig cause this person to react..as vandetta towards.. or what.. or desire to allow his vehs to burn as financial situation..still.....
we had a call here weeks ago person in burning house was allowed to perish post shooting at fire personel arriving....many oppinions could be shown here.....

Some people set fires to kill responders, some start blasting. Makes me nervous as hell, wonder if someone's going to copycat this mutt and make me a target(Yes, i know it's not likely, but i still think about it.)
Speaking from personal experience, i've been on 'secure' scenes that got very insecure and very tense.

That's pretty scary, hell the job is already dangerous enough!

maybe the gov should allow us to get the new ceramic body shields....sure a arm or leg shot is non fatal.. but a helmet as well will not shot a bullet..unless maybe we go to kevlar DOD issue period....go watch the new batman and look at his new suite....there was a special on History Chl about it....ceramic shields for chest and abdomen...problem is same as COMBAT.....we are on the FRONT LINES>....as well

The issue is you guys have to carry enought weight as it is. Body armor still weighs a lot...
