I have heard of individual departments hiring Firefighter-EMT-B's is this not correct?

Your are correct. Due to manpower issues, the volunteer fire companies throughout DE have hired people to aid with staffing. Schedules, salaries, and job descriptions vary per individual company. Primarily, everyone's main focus is staffing the BLS unit. This was predominantly a practice in New Castle County, but it is now "catching up with" the companies in Kent and Sussex.

Currently in sussex county, Millville Fire Department is hiring several Part time FF/EMTs and also a Full time FF/EMT supervisor. Rehoboth Beach is also hiring Part time. Mid sussex rescue is hiring full and part time EMTs but they are BLS only, no fire. Any more ?? e mail me
