Castle Rock Fire and Rescue (http://www.crgov.com/Page.asp?NavID=1131)units responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the Founders neighborhood on the afternoon of April 21, 2008.
Upon arrival, the wind-driven fire had consumed most of the initial fire building and started a fire in the house next door. The initial house was deemed a loss, and defensive operations set in place. The second house, with reports of people still inside, was an offensive operation with crews taking hoselines inside and conducting searches. The searches proved negative, and everyone made it out safely.
Crews stayed on-scene throughout the night to ensure that there were no flare-ups, and the cause was determined to be a partially lit cigarette bud near the back fence. Units from Castle Rock, Franktown, Parker and South Metro responded to the fire.
E151 was first due as E153 was out of position for training. E151 was also short staffed as the stepper was on an EMS run. Click the link above for some good pictures.
