If past history can be trusted, try back around 2007.

On a serious note, can anyone provide information about the first few weeks of the DC academy. Hopefully someone who recently graduated or in the academy could reply.

Letthewatergo,

Thanks for the information. I should be starting the academy soon, and find myself very nervous, not sure what to expect. If anyone else can provide information that is serious and accurate please add on.

why do you have to be such an ass? KIfireguy1 was just asking a simple question who cares if he spelled 1 little word wrong, half of the people on here can't spell anyway. oh well just my 2 cents, any way to all my brothers in DC stay safe.

Newbie my boy, if you are having doubts about whats gonna happen at Training School don't go and let someone else that wants the job go there. :D If not just go to School keep your mouth shut and get there 2 hours early. Learn all you can and forget waht you learned in the County. Got It??GOOD!!

Newbie, don't fret. Everyone has done it, and if you qualified to get in, you'll make it. No one ever looked back and thought it was the challenge of their lives. Not to say it isn't challenging. It is 20-plus weeks of school made livable by the prospect that in the end you'll be assigned to a fire company in a department that has no truly bad companies (lighten up guys, I'm talking to Newbie) - everybody runs. Get to work good and early - a DCFD cultural thing - and form the habit of studying just a bit each day. Keep that habit and you'll make rank.
