I don't want to name the company, but I was out on a run with the owner(EMT-B) and we had the patient on the stretcher, I had to go back into the building to get the charge nurses signature, and when I came back out, the owner had left the patient, on the stretcher, alone, to get a soda!!!!WTF?

I'd say Butler that recently opened in Maryland is one of the worst. First off, you have an ambulance with the homosexual penguins on the side with one end of the stethoscope sticking up it's anus. Second, you can only expect the mafia to run an operation by so many rules and regulations. So they pay their taxes and follow the govt. laws, but MIEMSS is overlooked. :o
Next, take you manager of operations, who reportedly has just moved into the billing department. Other than having a penis face, that's as male as he gets. Finally, you have a BLS unit running as a Paramedic unit, and their own EMT-B telling everyone he was told to sign the owner's name who evidently is a Paramedic.
What a superior outfit!

why does that not surprise me...i do not know of any private ambulance services that i would trust with any family member including my 3 year cocker spaniel..
Hireing requirments for a private service-> a pulse and a certifation card (doesn't matter if it took you 10 times to pass the exam)..pulse is optional :D

One of the best is in Martinsburg,WV called Ryneal. They hire nothing but 911 medics

I don't necessarily agree that these companies suck because of the people who work for them. Many providers I know are excellent in private ambo and also the 911 field. They are just put in a bad situation, bad management. They have to work with what they have, whether that is a shitty partner, poorly stocked unit, or whatever the reason. However, it's just like the debate on privatizing the medical flight business for 911... people are only looking to make a buck. And many times customer service employee happiness are the sacrifices made to make this money.

The worst is AAA. PM me for the reasons why if you really wanna know, I am sick of listing them on here. All I got to say is that I was contacted by a DHHS Agent in reference to someone pursuing legal action.
Isn't Ryneal a Fire Company in Martinsburg? I see ambulances that say "Ryneal Fire Company" on them when I go to pick my daughter up in Hedgesville.
As much as I hate the company, I have to admit that MOST of the providers working with the Hopkins Lifeline and SOME of the Lifestat providers are very good at what they do. With as difficult as the lifestar makes it on them they do an excellent job for their patients. Lifeline especially makes it a point to keep only competent providers and does everything they can to continue training for those providers.
NOW, Lifestar itself is another matter. Between the management there and the total lack of vehicle maintenance, I am surprised the company can afford to be staying in business. They have to be getting lawsuits left and right. It is no wonder that 9/10 times that MIEMSS stops a LS unit for a spot check that it is put out of service. And granted that there are some very good providers there, they are by far out numbered by those who I wouldn’t trust with a corpse.

The worst private ambulance company??????????? Well I have worked for Lambert's, in Romney, WV & Jan Care in Fairmont & Clarksburg, WV
I finally woke up and went to work for Valley Medical Transport in Cumberland, MD. They are, probably one of the best!
The other 2 I mentioned.... well, neither one pays a competetive wage, and 1 is lucky to have adequate supplies to run a call, if the unit isn't broke down.

:D LOL, too true. Not the most friendly folks either. Probably shoula called it Quality Careless or Quality Carefree. It'll only be a matter of time before LifeCare buys them out too.

Hit it on the head B S K. They have a few new units over at Lifescare. As for the staff, there seems to be a very high turn-over rate. Wonder what causes that???

some are bad others are worse. Some companies have good personnel but s***ty management, the guys on the units can only do what they can do. The ones with documented histories of bad transports and problems should be shut down. Specifically the white units with blue stripping running all over PG and Monkie Counties ( U know who they are).
