Did you send a letter to the Chronicle too, telling them to stop reporting on the story?

Since when did med-control achieve the panacea status that you purport it to be? I have been an EMT in this area for over 20 years, still actively going to all the calls that I can so I'm going to render an opinion. Here in the NE corner there is a certain hospital with med control who does nothing but hinder the operations of EMS personnel no matter how progressive they may wish to be, they render decisions of what we should do in the field while comfortably relaxed in their climate controlled offices. I won't drone on with endless examples as everyone who has any experience in this area is already well aware of the conditions we operate, in closing, the loyalty that I feel is to my fellow providers in the field, not to the docs who don't trust us.

How about this for a thought:
If you have a problem with the hospital and its procedures you make an appointment with the EMS coordinator and or the ED Medical Control Doctor and find out their reasons for the action they took.

express, do you have a link to the Chronicle story? I went to thier web site yesterday, but could not find it. Or at least the day it ran, then I might be able to find it.

We have had similar incidents with JMH refusing patients in the ED, but not refusing landing permission to the helo.... They tried that once and I had them put it in JMH's driveway.... That resulted in a meeting with the ED doc who tried to do the wave off and the hospital administrator. There was discussion about the view from the climate controlled ED being much different that that visible from inside the overturned vehicle....
We have experienced several incidents in the past few months where one of the ED docs has literally turned ambulances away from 30 seconds out and told them to go to a Level I with an R5 intercept simply due to mechanism of injury. (We've been in the game long enough to ship BLS when appropriate) This resulted in at least one call from a trauma supervisor in the Level I asking me the what the f*** are you people doing out there question, because we discharged that last patient before your ambulance left the yard..... I simply referred the trauma doc to the ED doc..... Once again we will be meeting with the ED director regarding the nice new ED versus the trenches....

Can't remember now..it was a few weeks ago, front page headline story. And from what everyone is saying in the story, from quotes all around, it sounds like a big OOPS...including comments from WCMH administration. We ALL screw up, well, except for FF IN TRAINING/GUESS WHO I AM, who is the most perfect soul on the face of Earth, and who quits before things get difficult.
