What are the chances of having an intelligent thread discussing rural water supply techniques/delivery. What works or doesn't work for your department...

I have enclosed a Somers FD tanker supply operation that worked well for them.

LtDad on the shoreline we have a Tanker Task Force I mean Tanker Strike Team that works well for us. Upon request by IC you receive 5 Tankers and 1 Water Supply Engine. We have 2 levels and each is the same. Each Town submits the Tankers they want being careful not to depleate any 1 are of its Tankers. We have trained on it in the past and so far it has worked well for us. Ill find a link to the sog and post it for you.

Thanks for the pics of the Brooklyn drill. FYI Baltic will be ordering a 3,000 gallon tanker on a Spartan chasis, with 2 drop tanks. It should be a nice setup and help alot with an area tanker task force response.

LtDad:
In our jurisdiction we utilize a tanker task force at the request of the I.C. The task force dispatches tankers in addition to the tankers dispatched on the initial Box assignment. Each task force is comprised of three tankers and two engine companies. The engines are used at the draft site and fill sites in addition to any other units already operating at the sites. The rationale for the engines is to establish a second fill site and a second unit at the dump site to augment the flow of water to the fireground.

I still like the idea of utilizing hose tenders when available and feasable. Call in tankers for the initial blast, fill 'em, and send them home and back in service. Let the HT feed the scene, freeing up room with less trucks on scene.
